Cutimed Sorbact Hydroactive B, Sterile Wound Dressing
Bacteria-binding wound dressing with a hydrogel matrix—infection management, exudate management, and autolytic debridement all in one.
Description
Cutimed Sorbact Hydroactive B combines the Sorbact principle with flexible exudate management. Bacteria and fungi naturally bind to and become anchored on the DACC-coated surface, where they are irreversibly bound and their growth is inhibited. With each dressing change, the bacterial count in the wound decreases—purely through physical means, without killing the microorganisms. There are no known resistance mechanisms against this principle, and because nothing is killed, no additional endotoxins are released.
The hydrogel matrix also keeps the wound environment moist, thereby promoting autolytic debridement in fibrin-covered and necrotic wounds—meaning the dressing works on three fronts simultaneously. It consists of an acetate fabric with a bacteria-binding coating, an absorbent hydropolymer matrix with a semipermeable polyurethane cover film, and a hydrogel-based adhesive border.
Key Features
- Bacteria-binding DACC coating — purely physical effect
- Irreversibly binds bacteria and fungi, including MRSA and VRE
- No known mechanisms for the development of resistance
- No killing of microorganisms, thus no additional endotoxin release
- Hydrogel matrix keeps the wound environment moist and promotes autolytic debridement
- Semipermeable polyurethane cover film with a hydrogel-based adhesive border
- Unlimited duration of use throughout the course of therapy
- Not manufactured with natural rubber latex
Indications
- Clean, colonized, contaminated, or infected wounds
- Wounds with light to moderate exudate
- Chronic wounds such as venous, arterial, or diabetic ulcers and pressure ulcers
- Postoperative wounds and wound dehiscences
- Traumatic wounds
- Wounds following excision of fistulas and abscesses—but not for wound cavities
- Change the dressing depending on the amount of exudate and the condition of the wound, at the latest after 4 days
Summary
Three functions in one dressing: trapping bacteria, absorbing exudate, and loosening eschar. It is expressly not intended for wound cavities—in such cases, the tamponade form is used.
