Description

In cases of trauma or venous disease of the legs, prolonged decongestive therapy is necessary. Gelocast elastic was developed for this purpose as a cellulose-based zinc gel bandage. Its pressure profile is distinctive: low resting pressure combined with very high working pressure—meaning the compression is most effective when the patient is moving, thereby promoting venous return all the way to the deep veins.

Unlike the rigid gauze bandage version of Gelocast, Gelocast elastic is longitudinally elastic and thus adapts better to the shape of the leg when applied.

Summary
